Aaron Jerome, otherwise known at SBTRKT (pronounced “subtract”), released his self-titled album last year and has since flown off the charts. This London native has remixed songs by artists such as M.I.A., Modeskeletor, Bassment Jaxx, and Goldie. His masked face and fixation for bass have come together to create one hell of a unique producer/musician.

Like I said earlier SBTRKT wears a mask. His initial goal was to maintain a realm of anonymity and his unforgettable beats from being judged based on anything but the music. “I’d rather not talk about myself as a person, and let the music speak for itself. The name SBTRKT is me taking myself away from that whole process,” he explains in his interview with Clash Magazine. “I’m not the most social person, so having to talk to DJs to make them play a record is not something I want to do. It’s more about giving them a record as an anonymous person and seeing whether they like it or not. If they play it, they play it.” This mysterious persona has done nothing but fuel the attention from artists of all music genre’s, such as Radiohead and Drake.
SBTRKT’s performance will also include his frequent partner Sampha who will be sure to bring you all into another world with their experimental electronic soul and heavy basslines. The two are coming to San Diego for their first time bringing a mixture of sweet sounding production along with a precisely complex live experience to give us an exclusive insight into what they’re all about! Special guests will include Machinedrum and Michael Mannino.
